bumper sticker
May 28, 2009
I was stopped at a stoplight in Ashland on my way home from work; the car in front of me had two bumper stickers. The first one was the typical Obama 09‘ that is a requirement if you live here in Ashland. The other was a sticker that aggravated me more than any other sticker I’ve ever seen (maybe that was the point). It read ” I am not a republican” in black letters with a plain white background. I am, by no means, a republican either, but I don’t find myself to be superior because of it. It’s bad enough that we have to put shit on our cars claiming things that we are,(jesus fish, darwin fish), but it’s even worse that someone is putting stickers of things that they are not. What makes it even worse is that the asshole already had an Obama sticker on the car, and that is a pretty sure fire way of letting people know you swing on the left side of the spectrum.
I do have three stickers on my car (Avett Brothers, Belle & Sebastian and Oregon/heart). But, if i want to follow this cars trend, i might as well put the following stickers: “i do not hate oregon”, and “i am not in opposition to the avett brothers/belle and sebastian”
wilco
May 27, 2009
I’ve been really excited to see Wilco at the britt this summer. Pitchfork announced today that one of my least favorite’ pitchfork-raved bands will be opening for them; Okkervil river. I know some folks who absolutely love them, but me and my roomie have agreed on several occasions that they are rather mediocre.
mark twain

If mark twain was a band, it would be The Felice Brothers. If you’ve been an enthusiast of my blog, you will recall last time i saw the brothers, they happened to all have bronchitis and could barley sing, they played regardless (and deer tick opening was incredible). I bought tickets to see them in Eugene in a couple weeks and I’m anticipating a fantastic show. I think I’m Going to surprise the GF. I know they have been growing on her, and the last step in becoming a fanatic is seeing them live, it’s the nail in the coffin. Depression era Americana will be the next big thing in this economical climate.
Vetiver – Everyday

This video gets the Eric Loeffler award for best music video ever. I love Andy Cabric a whole lot (singer/songwriter). I think me and him will hang out at pickathon, maybe rollerblade around the country side of pendarvis farm.
Sylvia

I love Sylvia Park illustrations. Her personal life situations with humorous aesthetics, they also occasionally address social issues.

Family Guy
May 20, 2009
The good ol’ days of cinema. This scene from Revenge of the Nerds has gotta be the most inspirational things in the world. (hint of sarcasm…but it’s still a good scene).

How do we feel about Zee Avi? (leave some opinions)

I try not to judge the fact that she is associated with Jack Johnson, and on his record label, but I just grew terribly bored with him and that genre. I used to love it, but that style of (catchy) music just doesn’t stick with you for long. I’m gonna give this album a try though.
