The Courage of Others

June 12, 2009

If you know me even in the slightest, you will know that Trails of Van Occupanther by midlake is one of my favorite albums in the world. There new record has been in the making for well over a year, and I have no doubt that it will be spotless. They havn’t released too much info on the concepts or progression of their new record, but the secretiveness makes it so much more interesting . This interview was recently relseased explaining a bit about the new album.

I found it interesting that, songwriter Tim, found inspiration for Trails of Van Occupanther partly through Bruegel paintings. (the fleet foxes album cover). The reason I fell in love with Fleet Foxes instantly was because I felt their sound was very reminisant of Midlake. Fleet Foxes were my distraction from the lack of Midlake material out there. Anyway, the Bruegel thing was very ironic. I love the ambiance of his work, truly a revolutionary painter to say the least.
